Monquhitter is a small rural parish nestling in the heart of Aberdeenshire. Although it is not a large community, it has much to offer both in terms of local amenities and beautiful rural landscapes. The parish has at its centre, the village of Cuminestown, but also incorporates the hamlet called the Garmond and the numerous houses and farms in the surrounding areas of Greeness and Greens.

The parish covers an area of around 15,626 acres of land. Although fairly peaceful in its own right, it has the benefit of being centrally located, the village of Cuminestown being only 6 miles from Turriff and New Deer, 10 miles from Macduff and Banff and 15 miles from Fraserburgh.

About This Site
This site is an experiment in community web development in that it offers ownership of the site content to members of the community in the spirit of keeping the site 'alive' and helping to create an up to date resource for locals and non-locals alike.

The site has already received an award from The Calor Gas Scottish Community of the Year scheme for the proposed involvement of community members in the site updating and expansion.  To aid this a content management system has been employed to allow allocated community members direct editorial access to page content through a standard web browser.

It is our hope that this will encourage community members to make a positive contribution towards the development of our community on and off-line.
